Porsche has finally unveiled its new electric Macan, which boasts a 381-mile range and a powerful Turbo version.
Joining the Taycan as Porsche’s second electric car, the new Macan incorporates a large 100kWh battery, of which 95kWh is usable.
The Macan features a dual-motor setup - with one on the rear axle and one on the front - which, in entry-level ‘4’ cars brings 402bhp and a 0-60mph time of five seconds alongside a top speed of 137mph. It’s in this model that you’ll get the headline range, too.
However, step up to the Turbo model and you’ll unlock 630bhp and a 0-60mph time of 3.1 seconds plus a top speed of 161mph. The amount of range you’ll get from a full charge drops as a result of this additional performance, however, with Porsche claiming up to 367 miles between trips to the plug.
Even the entry level models have 402bhp and a 0-60mph time of five seconds Porsche has also integrated a new 800-volt electric architecture into the Macan, which allows it to charge at speeds of up to 270kW. As a result, a 10 to 80 per cent charge could be completed in 21 minutes when you’re connected to a quick enough charger.
Measuring in at 4,784mm long, the new Macan is 58mm longer than its petrol-powered predecessor while it has grown in width too. Much of the increase in length comes from a longer wheelbase, though Porsche has given this new Macan shorter overhangs to help give it a more compact look.
That increased size does mean that the new Macan offers 52 litres more boot space than the car it replaces at 540 litres in total, while an 84-litre ‘frunk’ adds to this Porsche’s practicality. You can fold the rear seats flat and extend the boot space up to 1,348 litres, too.
The interior includes the option of a screen for the passenger
